Culmination

I want to climb His highest peak

in hope my breath would mix

with Heaven's healing mist -

to rest upon the rocky brink

with barren trees that stretch

to sip the light of life -

to look below on mountain tops

I never dared to climb, and lakes

I thought too perilous to swim -

to reach from this world to the next

in hope that someone grasps

my hand, and seraphs sing of love

for one repentant soul -

to feel the depths of darkness quake

and look into the eyes of God.
